Acquisition

Should we buy this land, and how do we close on it?

Trigger

A landowner submits an application through a public form or portal, or staff identifies a strategic parcel.

Flow GeoTract orchestrates

  1. Application lands in GeoTract with an auto-assigned file number

  2. System pulls the parcel from enterprise GIS and generates a triage map (conservation priorities, existing protected lands, sensitive resources)

  3. Analyst opens a Prospectus — inspection notes, program planning, preliminary financial estimates

  4. Acquisition review team scores the parcel against the ranking rubric (public benefit, cost-per-acre, ecological value, strategic fit)

  5. If it ranks, committee and board memos generate from prospectus data — no re-keying

  6. On approval, due-diligence tasks trigger: appraisal, environmental assessment, purchase contract, closing coordination

  7. At closing, the tract transitions to Land Management with acquisition metadata intact

What “good” looks like

The analyst spent zero time reformatting data into memos and zero time hunting for parcel boundaries.
